H. C. has come to Amulaire with a strong credential in building successful technology ventures and reputation in managing diverse technologies.
Prior to Amulaire, H. C. was the CEO of CBrite, a metal-oxide TFT backplane company founded by Nobel Laureate, Alan Heeger. Before CBrite, H. C. was the Founder and CEO of E2O Communication, a fiber optics transceiver company of which he started in 1998. E2O experienced great growth even through the Internet Bubble Burst in 2000, and was acquired by JDSU in 2004. Subsequently, H. C. was appointed as the Vice President and General Manager of JDSU’s Datacom Business Unit.
Prior to E2O, H. C. held various management positions at Motorola. By 1998, he was managing Organic LED, MEMS, thin film fuel cell and bio-sensor labs at Motorola Corporate Research Lab. H. C. was known for his invention of ridge waveguide vertical cavity surface emitting laser (VCSEL) at Motorola. He was a member of Motorola Scientific Advisory Board, and has more than 65 issued patents.
H. C. served as the Board Director of Gigacomm (a joint venture between E2O and EpiStar; acquired by OCP), a senior advisor of ITRI OES in Taiwan, and Vice Chairman of Southern California Monte Jade Association. H. C. also served as the advisor of Zikon (an e-paper company in the Bay Area) and PlanarMag (a high performance magnet company in the Bay Area; acquired by Tyco).
H. C. received his Ph. D. in EE from University of Southern California and B. S. degree in EE from National Taiwan University.
